Psychoneuroendocrinoimmunology is the science that relates changes in environmental conditions, psychophysical and humoral stress, fatigue, trauma, with the body's response, in particular with the triggering of the neuroimmune and neuroendocrine response. This discipline made up of several integrated sciences explains some important forms of chronic diseases, often caused not by physiological disturbances of the whole organism, but by the reaction of the nervous system. The hypothalamus is the center of emotions and records the variations and stresses that the body undergoes, it is also part of the autonomous system but also of the endocrine system.

If prolonged, external variations can cause an energy imbalance and can cause a lowering of the immune system; Henri Laborit, one of the pioneers of PNEI, correlated the mind-body relationship and defined the maintenance of health not only as an internal physiological balance but also in relation to the external environment .

The unleashing of an abnormal immune and inflammatory response can occur in relation to the release of hormones and neurotransmitters . An example is psoriasis , caused by the release of neurotransmitters at the level of the subcutaneous nerve endings, which cause the formation of edematous spots.

In reality, this discipline highlights all the ways in which our body undergoes the environment and deregulates itself. In the same way as the body undergoes stress and negative changes, it receives positive emotions, gratifications and pleasant sensations which, once perceived by the nervous system, send a positive signal to the central system.
