Scientists at the University of Liverpool have developed a new dental product to identify plaque before it is visible to the human eye alone. The device is the size of a toothbrush and emits light that must be viewed with special yellow glasses with a red filter. In doing so, the plaque – if present – causes the affected part of the tooth to take on a red color. Inspektor TC , this is the name of the device, was not built to be used only by the dentist, but the level of miniaturization and ease of use make it easily usable by people. The need to identify the plaque is in fact very important to avoid the formation of caries. Suffice it to say that in the UK alone there is an average of 2.5 teeth filled or removed by the age of 15 precisely because of caries. [more info ]
